HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 8 Joe T. Robinson (7-3) at No. 6 SOUTHSIDE (9-1): Joe T. Robinson beat Southside 46-13 in the second round of the 2016 Class 5A playoffs, the only other meeting between these programs. Joe T. Robinson dropped to the Central's No. 3 seed after last week's 20-7 loss at Pine Bluff, while starting 6 freshmen. Joe T. Robinson trailed 13-0 in the second quarter when junior QB Quentin Murphy, Jr., hit Nick Abrams on a 65-yard double-reverse pass. Robinson's defense came up with 2 red zone stands. “Joe T. is very athletic, plays hard and has speed on defense,” Southside Coach Kenny Simpson says.
Southside's only loss was against 5A East champion Valley View 31-21 in Week 8. The Southerners bounced back the past 2 weeks with wins over rival Batesville and Paragould by a combined 77-23.
Senior RB Gabe Witt ran for 2 TDs and threw 1 TD pass in last week's 35-13 win over Paragould. Witt has rushed for 21 TDs this fall. LB Andrew Plummer racked up more than 20 tackles against Paragould, while Isaac Wallis, Jaxon Wammack played well on the defensive line.

WEEK 11 PREDICTIONS (favored team highlighted in ALL CAPS)

West (4) Alma (7-3) at South (1) LR PARKVIEW (10-0) (Thurs.): These teams have never played.
Alma dropped to the No. 4 seed with last week's 57-21 loss to Shiloh Christian. Camden Curd and Landon Morris each made 10 tackles vs. Shiloh Christian. Undefeated LR Parkview won its second consecutive 5A South title, capped with last week's 42-14 win over Camden Fairview. Junior Monterrio Elston ran for 3 TDs, while Jermaine Penny returned a punt 75 yards for a TD.

East (3) Wynne (5-5) at Central (2) MILLS (8-2): Wynne qualified for the playoffs by winning its final 3 games, including last week's 41-39 victor against Nettleton, when the Yellowjackets stuffed a 2-point conversion then recovered an onside kick in the final 80 seconds. Senior QB John Watson ran for 204 yards and the offensive line, which starts 4 sophomores (Gage Rice, Wesley Fuller, James Archer and Cooper Thompson), played its best game, Coach Clay Totty says. Mills must emotionally recover after last week's 36-33 loss to Vilonia cost the Comets the No. 1 seed and conference championship. Senior QB Achillies Ringo (17-29-260-3 passing; 9-48-1 rushing) led Mills' offense, but he threw 2 interceptions. Senior Dylan Parks (9-232-2 receiving vs. Vilonia) could cause matchup problems for Wynne's secondary.

South (4) Camden Fairview (6-4) at West (1) FARMINGTON (7-3): These teams have never played. Farmington shared the 5A West title and earned the No. 1 seed after beating Prairie Grove 41-30 a week ago. The Cardinals trailed in the fourth quarter before reeling off 20 unanswered points. Junior RB Luke Elsik (14-137-2) paced Farmington's ground attack, while Titus Brown kicked 34- and 31-yard field goals. Camden Fairview finished as the South's No. 4 seed following last week's 42-14 loss to LR Parkview.

Central (3) Joe T. Robinson (7-3) at East (2) SOUTHSIDE (9-1): Hootens.com Class 5A Game of the Week.

Senior QB Matthew Contreras (13-21-110-2 passing; 19-148-1 rushing) sparked Hot Springs' offense. Senior DL Kendall Williams made 9 tackles. Shiloh Christian shared the 5A West title this fall and the Saints lean on senior RB Bo Williams, who has been hampered by an ankle injury most of the season. Williams ran 17 times for 158 yards and 3 TDs in the first half of last week's 57-21 win at Alma. Freshman QB Cole Creighton, who missed 2 months with an injury before returning 2 weeks ago, passed for 199 yards and 3 TDs against Alma. Shiloh Christian's defense forced 3 turnovers.

East (4) Nettleton (6-4) at South (1) PINE BLUFF (8-2): These teams have never played. Pine Bluff earned the 5A Central title and No. 1 seed with last week's 20-7 victory over Joe T. Robinson. Senior WR Courtney Crutchfield caught 1 TD pass, while Austyn Dendy and QB Landon Holcomb each ran for TDs. Nettleton failed on a potential game-tying 2-point conversion in the final minutes of last week's 41-39 loss at Wynne. Junior QB Maddox Hampton (7-9-122-3 passing) and RBs Xavier Harrell (9-80 rushing) and T.J. Brown (19-156-2 rushing; 3-33 receiving) were leaders in the shootout loss, while Kylan Goodlow recorded 11 tackles and returned 1 interception for a TD.

West (3) HARRISON (7-3) at South (2) HS Lakeside (7-3): Harrison beat HS Lakeside 56-36 in the first round of the 2017 playoffs. The Goblins finished as the No. 3 West seed this fall. HS Lakeside hosts a first-round game after last week's 4-point win over rival Hot Springs. Junior RB Grady Ohman (29-182-3 rushing) ground out tough yards to help keep Hot Springs' offense sidelined, Coach Garren Rockwell says. Senior WR Kyler Wolf (6-85-1 receiving) and tight end Skylar Purifoy (5-48) make crucial catches. Harrison's Braden Long ran for 179 yards and 3 TDs in last week's 42-20 victory over Pea Ridge.
