Class 2A No. 1 England at No. 4 Junction City

England with three extra days to prepare for Junction City after a 42-28 win over Class 4A Hamburg last Tuesday during the Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Kickoff Classic. Senior quarterback Brayden Brazeal completed 17 of 22 passes for 258 yards and four touchdowns, connecting with seven different receivers. Junior Darrius Clarkson paced the Lions with seven catches for 97 yards and a TD. Senior tight end/defensive end and D1 recruit B.J. Thompson caught a 22-yard TD pass, recorded three tackles and assisted on a sack. Senior running back Malik Coleman ran 14 times for 89 yards and a score.
Junction City's coming off a 27-6 victory at Bearden. Senior newcomer and 195-pound tailback Demontauz Gray ran 22 times for 228 yards and a TD. Senior slot receiver C.J. Johnson, who paced the Dragons last year with 1,271 yards rushing at tailback, caught four passes for 37 yards at Bearden. Senior defensive end Brennan Lee returned a fumble 78 yards for a score. Senior cornerback Corde Meadows collected five solo tackles, intercepted a pass and broke up a school-record five passes. Junior linebacker Terrell Gibson, who set a school record for tackles by a sophomore last year with 81.5 stops, recorded eight tackles at Bearden.

Berryville at CLINTON (14): Berryville beat Decatur 59-6 last week. Three of Berryville's five wins since 2014 have been over Decatur. Clinton rushed for 359 yards on 55 carries in last week's 28-20 win over Heber Springs. Senior Jake Ferrell ran 11 times for 168 yards and two TDs.
Green Forest at PEA RIDGE (28): Huntsville shut out Green Forest 28-0 last week. Pea Ridge beat Booneville 41-22. The Blackhawks have won three of the past four meetings with Green Forest by an average of 34 points.
Cave City at MELBOURNE (3): Cave City lost to Southside Batesville 19-12 last week. Melbourne crushed Corning 49-16. Senior QB Clay Harris completed 10 of 13 passes for 264 yards and four TDs. Senior Kyle Minyard ran 11 times for 117 yards and two scores. The Bearkatz have defeated Cave City the past four seasons.
ELKINS (6) at West Fork: Elkins pushed 1-4A favorite Shiloh Christian last week in a 35-22 loss. All-league senior QB Jake Strode passed for 221 yards and rushed for 50 yards and two TDs. 1-4A member West Fork lost to Greenland 28-8. The Tigers have won six in a row over Elkins.
Rose Bud at MARSHALL (6): 5-2A member Quitman rocked Rose Bud 47-6 last week. Rose Bud managed 125 yards and five first downs. Marshall lost to 5-2A member Hector 39-8. A year ago, the Bobcats lost in overtime at Rose Bud 38-37.
Mansfield at GREENLAND (29): Mansfield lost to Waldron 45-0 last week. Waldron outgained Mansfield 403-135. First-year Mansfield coach Craig Bentley has made wholesale changes in the program over the past six weeks. Greenland senior TB Michael McAdoo and junior receiver Chandler Alaniz each scored two TDs in last week's 28-8 win over West Fork. A year ago, Greenland edged Mansfield 24-20, topping the Tigers for the first time in four years.
Mountain View at CONWAY CHRISTIAN (19): Mountain View struggled offensively in last week's 20-0 win at Salem. The Yellowjackets can't afford a slow start against Conway Christian, which piled up 539 total yards in a 48-12 win over Episcopal Collegiate.
SALEM (2) at Yellville-Summit: Both teams lost last week. Mountain View shut out Salem 20-0, while Y-S managed one first down in a 50-12 loss to Paris. Salem has won four of the past six meetings, including last year's 18-7 victory.

WEST HELENA (16) at Marianna: West Helena beats Marianna for the sixth straight season.
Southside Batesville at BALD KNOB (7): Southside Batesville edged Cave City 19-12 last week, while Bald Knob defeated Des Arc 41-30. Bald Knob senior playmaker DeShawn Gulledge ran 18 times for 131 yards and scored three TDs. Gulledge has committed to Arkansas as a preferred walk-on. A year ago, Gulledge did not play in a 13-0 loss at Southside.
Rose Bud at MARSHALL (6): 5-2A member Quitman rocked Rose Bud 47-6 last week. Rose Bud managed 125 yards and five first downs. Marshall lost to 5-2A member Hector 39-8. A year ago, the Bobcats lost in overtime at Rose Bud 38-37.
CHARLESTON (34) at Episcopal Collegiate: Charleston senior QB Jackson Rowland passed for 377 yards and four TDs in last week's 36-23 win over Dardanelle. Talented junior Sean Michael Flanagan accounted for 319 all-purpose yards. He raced 70 yards for a TD and took a short pass 54 yards down the sideline for another score. Episcopal gave up 539 total yards in a 48-12 loss at Conway Christian. The Wildcats are down to 14 players after an injury to senior receiver Josef Braunfisch (broken finger). Nine players are in their first year of football.
HARDING ACADEMY (2) at Smackover: These teams meet for the first time since the 2012 playoffs when Harding survived Smackover 21-14 on its way to a state championship. Harding Academy lost at Highland 30-26 last week. Highland recovered a Harding fumble for a TD in the third quarter. Harding senior QB Garrison Hendrix passed for 375 yards and four TDs. Smackover struggled offensively in a 34-6 loss to Camden Harmony Grove. Senior QB Beau Burson completed six of 15 passes for 49 yards. The Buckaroos lost two turnovers and had four punts blocked.
Perryville at MAYFLOWER (8): Perryville lost to Bigelow 14-7 last week, while Mayflower dropped its opener to CAC 48-27. Mayflower has won four in a row over former 2-3A member Perryville.
CROSS COUNTY (2) at Barton: Cross County handled Class 4A Harrisburg 43-18 last week. Barton junior slotback Bradly Smith ran for two TDs and caught a 54-yard TD pass in a 62-20 win at Marvell. Junior QB Matt James returned a kickoff 70 yards for a score.
CEDAR RIDGE (6) at Diamond, Mo. (Sat.): Kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Cedar Ridge lost three turnovers and had two TDs called back for penalties in last week's 40-29 loss at Brookland. Diamond (2-1) features seven seniors on its 28-man roster.

3-3A
Newport at GREENE CO. TECH (1): Both teams scored 14 points in losses last week. Newport gained 214 yards in a 20-14 loss at Gosnell, struggling to make plays in the red zone. A year ago, Tech beat Newport 44-26 for its only win of the season.
VALLEY VIEW (6) at Rivercrest: 5A East member Valley View gave up more than 500 total yards in last week's 41-33 loss at Searcy. Rivercrest looked rusty in a 44-6 loss at 5A East member Paragould. The Colts managed six first downs, giving Paragould a short field most of the night
Corning at BROOKLAND (16): Brookland coach Chuck Speer spent four seasons at Corning, guiding the Bobcats to 13 wins from 2011-14.  Corning gave up 459 yards on 36 plays in last week's 49-16 loss to Melbourne. Brookland beat Cedar Ridge 40-29.
Osceola at GOSNELL (4): Osceola's lack of depth showed up in the second quarter during last week's 40-6 loss at Blytheville. Gosnell has won the past three meetings with Osceola, including last year's 49-7 triumph. Gosnell debuted last week in the Wing T under first-year coach Brandon Barbaree, edging Newport 20-14.
HOXIE (2) at Jonesboro Westside: Hoxie has hammered Westside the past two seasons by a combined score of 84-27. Trumann shut out Hoxie 34-0 last week, while Westside lost to Manila 26-7.
Manila at TRUMANN (10): Trumann shut out Hoxie 34-0 last week. The Wildcats beat Manila 20-8 a year ago.
Portageville, Mo. at PIGGOTT (8): Piggott has defeated Portageville the past two seasons by a combined 15 points. The Mohawks beat Hazen 20-6 last week. Senior HB Justin Goding ran 14 times for 108 yards and a TD.
E. Poinsett Co. at WALNUT RIDGE (6): East Poinsett County defeated Augusta 36-28 last week, while Walnut Ridge handled Poyen 38-6. Walnut Ridge rallied to beat rival EPC last November for the first time in six years.

4-3A
WALDRON (5) at Cedarville: Waldron whipped Mansfield 45-0 last week, snapping a 43-game losing streak. Cedarville lost to Mountainburg 35-0.
Paris at DARDANELLE (3): Paris punished Yellville-Summit 50-12 last week. All-state senior TB Nate Davidson rushed for 209 yards and scored three TDs, including one on a punt return. The Eagles held Y-S to one first down. Dardanelle lost to league favorite Charleston 36-23, giving up 588 total yards. Dardanelle coach Phil Vega played for Paris coach Marc Tucker when Tucker was defensive coordinator at Dover.
LAMAR (16) at Subiaco Academy: Lamar struggled to stop Clarksville's Wishbone attack in last week's 24-19 loss. The Warriors have won three in a row over Subiaco by an average of 33 points.
DOVER (28) at Two Rivers: Dover defeated Atkins 22-14 last week, while Two Rivers lost to Danville 49-6. Danville recorded 30 tackles for loss.
Mansfield at GREENLAND (29): Mansfield lost to Waldron 45-0 last week. Waldron outgained Mansfield 403-135. H. G. HASKELL (3) at Fountain Lake: Harmony Grove got a boost this summer from a pair of Benton transfers in junior QB Hunter Hilson and senior receiver Austin Bull. Hilson completed 10 of 15 passes for 170 yards and a TD in last week's 49-17 win over Bauxite. Bull paced the Cardinals with four catches for 84 yards. Fountain Lake totaled 313 yards in a 35-21 loss at Pottsville. Sophomore Andrew Roberson, who played at Harmony Grove junior high last year, ran 17 times for 85 yards and a score.
Bauxite at GLEN ROSE (28): 5-3A member Harmony Grove Haskell mercy-ruled Bauxite 49-17 last week. Meanwhile, top-ranked Glen Rose beat Malvern 36-13. Senior QB Aaron Weatherford ran 28 yards for a TD and threw a 26-yard TD pass to senior Austin Hughes. Senior RB Jake Thompson dashed 14 yards for a TD. Senior OLB Garett Reed is out four to six weeks with a broken arm.
Bismarck at POYEN (6): Bismarck lost to Spring Hill 46-26 last week, while Poyen fell to Walnut Ridge 38-6. Poyen has won the past two meetings with Bismarck by an average of 15 points.
CENTERPOINT (13) at Magnet Cove: Centerpoint lost to Class 2A No. 4 Mount Ida 22-19 last week. A year ago, senior QB Keenan Owens passed for 295 yards and five TDs in a 49-27 win over Magnet Cove.
GURDON (15) at Dierks: Gurdon spent the past six seasons in the 7-2A with Dierks, beating the Outlaws five times by an average of 28 points. Junior QB Thomas Muldrow generated 231 total yards and three TDs in last week's 26-13 win at Lafayette County.
MURFREESBORO (5) at Horatio: These teams have split the past two meetings, which have been decided by a total of 11 points. Murfreesboro opened last week with a 34-6 win over Magazine. Horatio lost to 7-2A member Dierks 27-20.
Jessieville at MOUNT IDA (8): Jessieville beat Hot Springs Lakeside JV 36-14 last week. Mount Ida with extra time to prepare for Jessieville after defeating 5-3A member Centerpoint 22-19 last Monday in Arkadelphia during the Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Kickoff Classic.
PRESCOTT (13) at C. Harmony Grove: Prescott popped Star City 38-7 last week after a 52-7 preseason scrimmage win at Ashdown. Junior receiver Ka'darius Pearson (shoulder) and senior LB Nikell Davis (knee) did not play at Star City but should return this week. Harmony Grove coming off an impressive 34-6 win at Smackover. Senior QB Nathan Whitley ran 14 times for 105 yards and threw two TD passes. Junior slot receiver Jace Garcia ran for two TDs, including a 3-yarder on a direct snap. The Hornets beat Prescott 26-13 last year.

6-3A
Lake Village at STAR CITY (18): Lake Village beat Hamburg JV 27-20 last week, snapping a 16-game losing streak. Star City beat the Beavers 56-7 a year ago.
MCGEHEE (2) at Dumas: McGehee mashed Baptist Prep 34-7 last week, piling up 401 yards rushing. Sophomore HB Dewayne Railey (6-2, 185) ran six times for 162 yards and two TDs, while sophomore TB James Bell rushed for 75 yards and a pair of scores. Sophomore QB Cory Smart threw a 7-yard TD pass to senior Taiwan Collins. The Owls have won four of the past five meetings with Dumas.

Hampton at FORDYCE (8): Hampton totaled 468 yards in last week's 46-6 win at Drew Central. All-state senior RB Monta' Thomas rushed for 140 yards and three TDs. Fordyce flogged 8-2A favorite Rison 36-14. Senior FB T'Juan Thomas ran 16 times for 150 yards and a TD. Senior HB Krystan Mathews rushed for 102 yards and a score on 17 carries.
Genoa Central at LAFAYETTE COUNTY (6): Genoa Central hasn't defeated Lafayette County since 2012. The Dragons rushed for 313 yards in last week's 35-21 win over Foreman. All-league junior QB Bo Jewell ran 19 times for 121 yards and four TDs. Lafayette County lost to Gurdon 26-13.
