HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK

BRINKLEY (1-0) at Mountain View (0-0)
Brinkley beat Rose Bud 68-26 in its season-opener. Senior Jeremiah Harris accounted for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Mitchell Hicks accounted for 301 yards of offense and 5 touchdowns. Mountain View, idle last week, looks to rely on its run-heavy offense triggered by smooth senior QB Drew Shelton (77 percent completion rate last season). Junior LB Rush Sullivan leads a salty Mountain View defense.

WEEK 1 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS and highlighted)

Mountain Pine (0-0) at FOUNTAIN LAKE (0-0)

Fountain Lake will lean on senior RB Abram Davis (5-11, 235). Mountain Pine returns senior QB Jonah Wilburn, who accounted for 27 TDs last season. Look for Mountain Pine junior Zyon Wyatt (6-2, 250, 4.8) to be the immovable object on defense to Davis’ unstoppable force.

Corning (0-1) at IZARD COUNTY (1-0)
The Corning Bobcats got their first taste of 8-Man football in a 20-0 loss to Rector, last season's state runner-up among sanctioned teams. Corning will get a second helping of 8-Man competition this week, and it will be delivered by QB Wyatt Buchannon and defending state champ Izard County Consolidated, which picked up last week where it left off last season with a 52-22 win over Cedar Ridge. Corning needs Jakob Cox to produce offensively this week if they are to have success.

SW Christian Academy at MARSHALL (0-0)

The Darin Dunnagan coaching era begins in Marshall against SW Christian Academy of LR. SWCA plays in the Heartland Christian Association with Arkansas Christian Academy and Abundant Life. Marshall operates behind a revamped offensive line with veteran QB Caanan Horton and do-it-all back Bryce Griffin.

Arkansas Christian Academy vs. SUBIACO ACADEMY (1-0)

Subiaco registered 5 TFLs against Spring Hill’s run-heavy offense in its 28-16 season-opening win. Senior Brody Koch and Cam Raino are tied for the team lead in tackles with 14. Subiaco's offense looks to grow under sophomore QB Chris Munroe, who threw for 214 yards and 2 TDs in his first start.

Midland (0-0) at CEDAR RIDGE (0-1)
Cedar Ridge looks to show improvement after falling to defending sanctioned state champ ICC 52-22 in its opener. Midland spent the spring and summer refining its Flexbone attack.

CUTTER MORNING STAR (0-0) at Hermitage (0-0)
Cutter Morning Star junior QB Peyton Mills and his Eagles teammates travel to southern Bradley County to take on the Hermitage Hermits. The Eagles averaged 404 yards per game last season when Mills started.

Genoa Central (0-0) at SPRING HILL (0-1)
Spring Hill lost a 28-16 decision to Subiaco last week. Senior rushed TJ Tipton rushed for 116 yards. The Genoa Central Dragons return 7 of 8 starters on defense.

Woodlawn (0-0) at PRAIRIE VIEW ACADEMY, La. (1-1)
The Woodlawn Bears' starters on the O-line average 245 pounds per man. Prairie View Academy averages 283 yards per game rushing.

Dermott at PARKERS CHAPEL

A revitalized Dermott team brings 23 players to Union County Friday night. The Parkers Chapel Trojans sport a roster of 27 athletes one year after dropping to 8 Man.
