No. 6 Conway at No. 7 Cabot
Conway turned two turnovers and a roughing the punter penalty into points to lead 30-7 at halftime last Friday at Jonesboro. In the season opener, Bryant crowded the line of scrimmage but the Wampus Cats overcame it to win . "I'm really proud of our offensive line so far," said Conway coach Clint Ashcraft. Agilie junior tackle Colton Jackson (6-6, 291) leads the line. Jackson has committed to play for the University of Arkansas.
Cabot crushed Class 5A Jacksonville 42-0 in the opener and No. 15 LR Catholic 40-20 last week using its Dead T attack but could unleash its expanded passing attack this Friday. Cabot quarterback Kason Kimbrell completed 8 of 8 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns in the opener. He threw 23- and 15-yard TD tosses and ran for another at Catholic. Zach Launius catches well out of the backfield and leads Cabot rushers with 31 carries for 240 yards this season.

HOOTEN'S TV SHOW
Hooten's Arkansas Football TV show airs 10:30 a.m. Saturdays this fall on KATV 7 (ABC-Little Rock) and KXNW (Ch. 34 Fort Smith/Fayetteville).The show features the state's top recruiting prospects. Jonesboro will be featured as the Verizon/Nokia Siemens Network Football Town of the Week.

LR Catholic at BRYANT (22): LR Catholic lost its opener to LR Central 38-14. Last week Bryant won at LR Central 28-14 with athletic senior Devonte Howard (5-8, 160) moving from receiver to quarterback. Howard rushed for 160 yards and a TD and completed 7 of 9 passes for 70 yards, including a 19-yard TD to junior all-conference receiver Brushawn Hunter (5-8, 155).

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER (2) at FS Southside: Great series between former conference rivals. Har-Ber beat Southside 10-7 last year and twice in its 2009 state title season. Southside won by a TD in 2010 and 2011. Southside totaled 350 yards in last Friday's 28-20 win at Class 6A power El Dorado. Rebel running back Quincy Whitfield (6-0, 220) totaled 94 yards and D'Erek Fernandez (5-11, 180) added 93 yards. Har-Ber senior quarterback Kyle Pianalto (6-1, 170) missed most of last week's 55-29 loss to Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge after hurting his left elbow on the Wildcat's first possession.
FS Northside at ROGERS (1): Northside blew a late lead to tie at Pine Bluff in the opener and last week committed five turnovers, including four fumbles, in a 38-21 loss to Rogers Heritage. Heritage started seven offensive series in Northside territory last week. Rogers near 800 yards rushing after just two games, but senior quarterback Max Harrell (5-11, 160) proved an effective passer last Friday. The Mounties have punted once in 2013.

VAN BUREN (7) at LR Fair: Fair has scored 41 points this fall, ending a 22-game losing streak with a 20-0 win over hapless North Pulaski to start the season. Van Buren has won three of its past 22 games, including a 42-0 flogging of Fair last year.

7A/6A EAST
CONWAY (1) at Cabot: Game of the Week.

NORTH LR (21) at Pine Bluff: North LR lost a physical battle to Mississippi's top-ranked South Panola 24-23 last Friday. Class 6A Pine Bluff beat Class 5A Watson Chapel 24-15. Pine Bluff sophomore QB Ladarrius Skelton threw an interception in the end zone and had a TD run called back for holding in the first half. The Zebras lost at North LR 47-10 last year.

West Memphis at PULASKI ACADEMY (6): Pulaski Academy QB Will Hefley missed last week's victory over Warren with a foot injury. Talented sophomore Tre Bruce completed 25 of 48 passes for 332 yards and three TDs and ran for 96 yards and a score. West Memphis is 0-2 for the first time in more than a decade.
EL DORADO (6) at LR Central: El Dorado has lost to Class 5A No. 1 Camden Fairivew and 7A state title contender FS Southside by a combined 21 points. El Dorado moved the ball 61 yards on their final possession last week before an interception in the fourth quarter of last week's 28-20 loss to FS Southside. The Wildcats beat LR Central 21-0 in 2012.

7A/6A SOUTH

7A/6A WEST
EULESS (Texas) TRINITY(7) at Bentonville: Bentonville's regular-season win streak ended at 36 with last week's 24-17 loss to Broken Arrow, Okla. Bentonville's last regular season loss was on Oct. 2, 2009 to Fort Smith Southside 32-21. Run-oriented Euless Trinity (0-2) to Jenks, Okla., 27-23 in its opener and to Desoto, Texas 61-35 last Saturday but is still ranked in Texas' Top 20. Trinity advanced three rounds in the Texas playoffs last year after playing for the 5A state title in 2011. The Trojans beat Shiloh Christian's super-talented Arkansas Class 4A champions 80-26 in 2010.

FAYETTEVILLE (14) at Muskogee, Okla.: Fayetteville, the two-time defending 7A state champs, started 0-2 last year before mauling Muskogee 55-14. College prospect Dre Greenlaw makes big plays this fall for undefeated Fayetteville. Greenlaw returned a punt for a touchdown in the opener against speedy Class 4A Warren and an interception 68 yards for a score in last week's 34-24 win over Jefferson City, Mo.
Bixby, Okla. at SPRINGDALE (1): Springdale's DeAndre Murray has rushed for more than 200 yards the last two Fridays, giving him four 200-yard rushing performance in his career. Murray sprinted 66 yards on the Bulldog's first play of last week's 41-6 win at Tulsa Central. Bixby (2-0) has won two close contests at home to start the season, downing Garden City, Kan., 32-27 and Sand Springs, Okla., 35-21. Bixby spanked Springdale 22-7 a year ago. Springdale hasn't won the third week of the season since beating North LR 24-17 three years ago.

ROGERS HERITAGE (14) at Harrison: Heritage senior quarterback Josh Qualls, ranked as the state's No. 13 recruiting prospect by hootens.com, accounted for four touchdowns and the War Eagles got five turnovers in last week's 38-21 at FS Northside. Qualls also had a hand in four touchdowns against Northside in 2012. Heritage started seven offensive series in Northside territory last week. Harrison head coach Chad Harbison was hired away from Heritage, where he served as offensive coordinator for War Eagle coach Perry Escalante.
