HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 10 Mountain Home at No. 8 Texarkana
Mountain Home, which missed the playoffs last year, has not won in the postseason since beating Marion in the 2006 semifinals. Texarkana beat the Bombers 27-7 a week later in the title game.
Mountain Home has lost four of its past five games this season, including seven-point setbacks to West Memphis and Searcy. "We haven't quite gotten over the hump," Mountain Home coach Benji Mahan says. "But we're battle-tested and these last several weeks have prepared us for the playoffs." Sophomore quarterback Drake Walker has generated 1,767 yards (916 passing, 851 rushing) and 15 touchdowns this fall. Senior playmaker Damon Berry has 45 catches for 585 yards and five scores. Junior linebacker Cole Barrow paces the Bombers with 106 tackles. "They play hard and are very sound," Texarkana coach Todd Ledford says. "They're going to be all we want."

Texarkana lost four of its first five games this year before grasping Ledford's new system. "Defensively, we started off feeling pretty good," Ledford says, "but it took half the season to get it together offensively." The Razorbacks find themselves in the same position they were a year ago when they won three in a row before losing to El Dorado in the title game. Senior QB Elgie Richards completed 14 of 18 passes for 152 yards and three TDs in last week's 28-21 win over Sheridan. Texarkana has allowed three sacks in the past 153 pass attempts. "Our entire offensive line has done a good job adjusting," Ledford says. "But we're still struggling to run the ball at times."
