FAYETTEVILLE - For his performance Saturday in the Razorbacks’ 21-20 victory over Louisiana Tech, senior defensive end Deatrich Wise was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Wise made seven tackles (tying linebacker Dre Greenlaw and defensive backs Santos Ramirez and Kevin Richardson), broke up a pass and hurried Louisiana Tech quarterback J’mar Smith three times into incomplete passes.

The combined sack of Smith by Wise and Jeremiah Ledbetter for a 10-yard loss on La. Tech's final possession, compelled the Bulldogs to punt trailing 21-10.

Arkansas iced the game controlling the ball the final 3:35.

Wise and senior middle linebacker Brooks Ellis, were declared Arkansas’ defensive game MVP’s by Arkansas coach Bret Bielema.

“Deatrich really was a pretty special guy all day long,” Bielema said.

The SEC award marks a strong start for the senior from Carrollton, Texas, adorning national watch lists for the Chuck Bednarik, Bronko Nagurski and Ted Hendricks awards.
