Class 5A No. 9 Nettleton at No. 9 Pocahontas

These teams have split the past 10 meetings, with Nettleton winning 35-28 a year ago.
Nettleton won at Class 6A Mountain Home 49-39 last week. Junior Curtez Smith ran 9 times for 83 yards and a touchdown, caught 4 passes for 115 yards and 2 TDs and completed a 40-yard pass. Sophomore QB Maddox Hampton, in his varsity debut, completed 9 of 13 passes for 235 yards and 4 TDs, while Q Thompson caught 4 passes for 109 yards and 2 TDs. Senior linebacker Blake Brown paced Nettleton's defense with 7 tackles.
Pocahontas beat Southside by 21 points a week ago, with the defense making three goal-line stands. Senior LB Connor Baker made 7 tackles, while Cooper Sorg had 15 stops. Baker led the Redskins offense at QB (3-5 passing, 36 yards; 17-104 rushing, 2 TDs). Junior Reagan Womack logged 18 carries for 82 yards and 2 TDs.

GRAVETTE (1) at Inola, Okla.:
These teams have split their past two meetings, with Inola winning last season 16-14. Gravette senior QB Rhett Hilger passed for 125 yards in last week's 7-point loss to Class 5A Pea Ridge.
Charleston at ELKINS (1): Charleston opens its season. The Tigers have won the past five over the Elks. Elkins junior QB Dizzy Dan completed 18 of 27 passes for 245 yards and 3 TDs in last week's 18-point win over Pottsville, while junior Da'Shawn Chairs ran 11 times for 123 yards and 2 TDs.
Westville, Okla. at LINCOLN (7): Lincoln has won 8 of the past 15 in the series, but Westville beat the Wolves last season by 16 points. Lincoln downed Greenland last week by 20 points, with its defense giving up just 137 yards passing.
Ozark at BOONEVILLE (7): Booneville has won 14 of the past 22 in the series between former conference foes. Booneville's Dax Goff ran for 109 yards, while Trace Holt scored 3 TDs in last week's 36-6 win at Dollarway. Ozark's defense forced three turnovers in last week's 49-28 victory at Class 5A Clarksville. The Hillbillies gained 457 yards, with senior QB Landon Wright running for 134 and passing for 113.
Green Forest at Class 3A GREENLAND (3): Green Forest put up 247 yards and 14 points in last week's loss to West Fork. Greenland gave up more than 500 yards and 58 points last week to Lincoln. Greenland Coach Lee Larkan says senior RB Seth Center enjoyed a good game. Greenland has won 6 of the past 8 in the series.
BERRYVILLE (2) at Class 3A West Fork: Berryville has won 5 of the past 6 over West Fork, including 33-20 last season. West Fork led Green Forest 28-7 in the fourth quarter last week, before winning by 14 points. Berryville opens its season after scrimmaging Hackett and Yellville-Summit two weeks ago. The Bobcats have 35 players on the roster this fall.
Huntsville at PRAIRIE GROVE (16): Prairie Grove has won 15 consecutive over Huntsville. The Tigers didn't play last week but scrimmaged Heritage and Poteau, Okla., two weeks ago. The Tigers plan to dress 50 players this week. Center/defensive end Corbin Bowlin had a good fall camp, Coach Danny Abshier says. Huntsville yielded 423 yards in last week's 23-point loss to Lamar.

Class 3A Walnut Ridge at CAVE CITY (4): These teams haven't played in more than a decade and they split their only previous meetings. Walnut Ridge RB Logan Sain tweaked a knee in last week's 10-point win over Highland, but coach Jeff Blake expects him to return this week. Sain ran for 54 yards against Highland, while seniors Walker Ward and Kai Watson combined for 346 yards. Cave City threw an interception in the end zone in the final minutes of last week's 35-20 setback to Clinton. The Cavemen gained 480 yards, with senior Bryce Walling running 22 times for 158 yards and 2 TDs behind good offensive line play, Coach Danny Brustrom says.
SOUTHSIDE (13) at Bald Knob: These are former conference foes, with Bald Knob leading the all-time series 8-4. But Southside won last season's finale 37-8. Bald Knob gets solid QB play this fall. Southside gained 400 yards offense in last week's 21-point loss to Pocahontas, but converted only one of five trips in the red zone. Colby Harris paced the Southerners with 91 yards and TD.
Heber Springs at CLINTON (10): Clinton has won 11 of the past 20 over its rival, including 34-7 a year ago. The Yellowjackets’ defense yielded 480 yards last week at Cave City, but the running game gained more than 300 yards. Heber Springs opens its season. The Panthers scrimmaged Class 5A Beebe (7-7 tie at halftime with starters vs. starters). Senior LB Kenan Sneed enjoyed a good fall camp.
Class 3A Melbourne at LONOKE (1): Lonoke impressed in last week's 30-point win at CAC. Latrell Burnett intercepted 2 CAC passes, returning 1 for a TD. He also led the Jackrabbits in rushing and receiving. Junior QB Bradon Allen ran for 4 TDs, while LB Cody Amato registered 15 tackles.

Riverview at HIGHLAND (4): Highland led Walnut Ridge 7-6 in the second quarter last week before losing 32-22. The Rebels gave up 400 yards rushing. Riverview gave up more than 400 yards in last week's 35-0 loss to Malvern.
STUTTGART (3) at Star City: Stuttgart's rugged nonconference schedule continues. The Ricebirds rallied from a 21-7 first-half deficit last week for a 3-point win over previously No. 1 ranked Warren. Senior Cedric Hawkins and sophomore QB Deontae Clark combined for 380 yards against Warren, while Kendrick Hawkins played well at cornerback. Star City senior RB C.J. Turner ran for 3 TDs in a 35-point win at Bauxite.
HARDING ACADEMY (7) at Camden Harmony Grove: Harding Academy has won two of the past three over Camden Harmony Grove. Harding sophomore QB Owen Miller completed 27 of 31 passes for 394 yards in last week's 16-point win at Class 5A Valley View, while senior Levi Mercer played well on the defensive line.

Gosnell at Class 5A BROOKLAND (1):
Gosnell has won 8 of the past 10 in the series since these former conference foes began playing in 2012. But Brookland has won two consecutive, including 7-6 last season. The Bearcats didn't allow a point in last week's 6-0 win over Jonesboro Westside. Gosnell played its starters less than one half in a 44-7 win over Piggott. Cam Williams caught 2 TD passes, two 2-point conversions and returned a kick for a TD, while Tedarian Partee racked up 12 tackles. 
Riverview at HIGHLAND (4): Highland led Walnut Ridge 7-6 in the second quarter last week before losing 32-22. The Rebels gave up 400 yards rushing. Riverview gave up more than 400 yards in last week's 35-0 loss to Malvern.
Class 3A HOXIE (7) at Jonesboro Westside: Hoxie has won 6 of the past 9 in the series. Jonesboro Westside's defense played well in last week's 6-0 loss at Class 5A Brookland. Hoxie senior QB Sage Treadwell passed for 91 yards and a TD in last week's 14-6 win over Trumann.
NETTLETON (1) at Pocahontas: Hootens.com Class 4A Game of the Week.
Rivercrest at MILLS (8): Mills senior Jabrae Shawn ran for 4 TDs in last week's 46-point win over Forrest City, while Caleb Sain (12 tackles) and Derrick Murdoch (3 sacks, 1 forced fumble) led the defense. Rivercrest sophomore QB Cavonta Washington passed for 146 yards and 2 TDs and ran for a TD in last week's 35-point win over Manila. Junior receiver Michael Rainer racked up 301 all-purpose yards.
Class 3A OSCEOLA (1) at Blytheville: Blytheville has won 6 of the past 8 in the series. Former Chickasaws coach Ben Fisher returns to the sidelines this fall (30-24 record from 2014-2018). The Chickasaws expect to rely on a good offensive line early this fall. Osceola played well but lost by six points last week to Newport.

Pottsville at DARDANELLE (7):
Dardanelle has beaten its former conference foe 12 of the past 15 seasons. Dardanelle senior QB Drew Vega ran 10 times for 105 yards and a TD and completed 7 of 12 passes for 54 yards in last week's mercy-rule win at LR Hall. Zane Rose led the defense with 11 tackles, while Drake Boatright had 10 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. Pottsville lost at Elkins last week by 18 points.
Heber Springs at CLINTON (10): Game summary above in 2-4A.

DEWITT (6) at Harmony Grove Haskell: DeWitt beat Barton by 12 points last week, with senior Trent Place making 12 tackles. Gabbi Vega had 70 yards receiving and a TD. Haskell ran for almost 400 yards in last week's win over Lake Village.
Waldron at LAMAR (6): Waldron was a surprise team last week, beating Paris by 41 points. The Bulldogs gave up 144 yards and recovered 6 fumbles. Lamar ran for 423 yards in last week's 23-point win over Huntsville. Damien Hendrix ran 26 times for 187 yards and 2 TDs.
Bauxite at MONTICELLO (3): These teams have split their past two meetings. Monticello junior receiver Quay Rhodes caught 5 passes for 158 yards and 1 TD and Jontavion Lambert ran for 97 yards and 2 TDs in last week's come-from-behind win over Fordyce. Bauxite senior QB Hunter Ferrell ran for a TD and threw a TD pass in last week's loss to Star City.
DOVER (3) at Class 3A Atkins: Dover ended a 26-game losing streak with 43-14 win over J.C. Westside last week. Atkins has won 14 of the past 21 in this rivalry. The Red Devils lost at Bigelow last week 41-20.
Class 3A CAC at PERRYVILLE (1): Perryville clicked in last week's 30-point win over Cedarville. CAC struggled to slow Lonoke last week (yielding more than 400 yards.)
Drew Central at MAYFLOWER (2): This is the first meeting between these teams. Drew Central impressed two weeks ago in scrimmage vs. Dumas, then clobbered Bearden by 20 points last week. Sophomore receiver Tramond Miller caught 6 passes for 116 yards and 2 TDs. Mayflower gave up the winning TD in the final 4 minutes last week at Smackover. Tanner Mitchell intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble against Smackover.

ASHDOWN (17) at De Queen
: Ashdown has beaten De Queen 17 of the past 19 seasons. Ashdown senior Jayden Fricks ran for 104 yards and 2 TDs in last week's 15-point win over Hamburg, while linebacker Nash Brown collected 15 tackles. Improved De Queen trailed Mena 6-0 in the third quarter last week before losing 16-14.
NASHVILLE (6) at Hope: Nashville has beaten Hope 16 of the past 21 seasons. Nashville hung with Class 5A Magnolia last week before giving up a late TD in an 8-point setback. Senior QB Sloan Perrin totaled 296 yards (158 rushing) vs. Magnolia. Hope didn't play last week. Coach Phillip Turner relies on junior QB Tyler Patterson and a veteran defense in 2022.

CENTERPOINT (3) at Mena: Centerpoint upset Hackett by 2 points last week. Senior RB Jace Clark ran for 223 yards and 5 TDs. Mena squeaked by De Queen 16-14 last week. Senior Colby Davis ran for a TD and paced the defense with 8 tackles and 1 forced fumble. Senior RB/WR Jayden Felix had 100 total yards, while QB Gabe Corcoran passed for 159 yards and a TD.
MALVERN (6) at Class 3A Glen Rose: Malvern has won 8 of the 12 games in the series. The Leopards mercy-ruled Riverview 35-0 a week ago. Senior QB Cedric Simmons passed for 230 yards and a TD and ran for another TD at Riverview, while Jalen Dupree tallied 195 yards and 4 TDs. Glen Rose beat Crossett 38-28 a week ago, with junior Heath Ballance pacing the rushing attack.

MAGNOLIA (9) at Crossett: Magnolia broke open a close game last week (35-27 win over Nashville) with two second-half drives. Coach Mark King says the offensive line blocked well for senior B.J. Curry (20 carries, 252 yards and 3 TDs). The Panthers ran for 400 yards. Crossett started slow against Glen Rose a week ago (trailed 15-0 in the first quarter) before losing 38-28.
Class 2A EARLE (1) at Helena: Helena going for its first win since Week 5, 2019. Earle lost to Salem last week 20-12, while Class 2A Clarendon beat Helena by 26 points.
Bauxite at MONTICELLO (3): These teams have split their past two meetings. Monticello junior receiver Quay Rhodes caught 5 passes for 158 yards and 1 TD and Jontavion Lambert ran for 97 yards and 2 TDs in last week's come-from-behind win over Fordyce. Bauxite senior QB Hunter Ferrell ran and threw a TD pass in last week's loss to Star City.

Class 5A White Hall at WARREN (3): White Hall has beaten Warren the past two seasons, including 35-0 a year ago. White Hall defeated Sheridan, with Marshon Jordan making 17 tackles. Warren led Stuttgart 21-7 in the second quarter last week before special teams blunders led to a 31-28 setback.
Lake Village at HAMBURG (20): Hamburg hung with talented Ashdown last week before losing 15 points. Hamburg ran for 230 yards and trailed Ashdown 14-6 in the third quarter. Coach Blake Johnson says Tracker Whited and Willis Robinson both played well for the Lions. H.G. Haskell ran for more than 300 yards in last week's 41-6 decision over Lake Village.
