LITTLE ROCK - Pocahontas starting linebacker/inside receiver Rob Mason has been selected by hootens.com as the First Community Bank Scholar Athlete of the Week.
More than 6,000 boys play high school football in the state. Mason (4.2 GPA, 33 ACT) is one of only 13 selected for the prestigious award presented by First Community.
Bank representative David Daniel surprised Mason with the announcement after a Pocahontas workout. Earlier this season, First Community presented the award to standout students at Batesville, Vilonia, Harding Academy (Searcy), Valley View and Cabot.
Pocahontas (3-1), currently No. 10 in the hootens.com Class 4A rankings, plays at Gosnell this week.
First Community Bank is a locally owned and operated bank with 27 locations in Arkansas and Missouri.
