STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
Rivercrest scored 27 points off of five Junction City turnovers in a 48-14 rout. The Colts allowed 107 yards rushing to a Dragon outfit that was averaging 349 yards on the ground. Junior quarterback Demilon Brown earned title game MVP honors after completing four of five passes for 43 yards and three touchdowns, while adding four tackles and a fumble recovery. It was the third state title in Rivercrest history (1985, 2010 and 2017) and the second under veteran coach Kelly Chandler. Rivercrest is the first Class 3A school since the advent of six classifications (in 2006) to win a state title with two losses.
