Top-ranked El Dorado pulled away from Texarkana in the second half to win its second straight state title. Senior quarterback Taylor Reed, a finalist for State Farm Awards Class 7A/6A Offensive Player of the Year, finished the season with 2,375 yards and 24 touchdowns. He guided El Dorado to 24 wins over the past two years, passing for 4,688 yards and 47 TDs.

Reed earned state title game MVP honors after passing for 114 yards and two TDs and rushing 1-yard for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. Junior kicker Colby Murphy booted a 21-yard field goal with 2:47 left in the game to seal the victory. El Dorado coach Scott Reed improved his record to 41-10 since taking over in 2007.

Despite losing six regular-season games, Texarkana propelled itself to the championship game after a 42-28 win over 2009 finalist Pine Bluff. The Razorbacks, which dropped their fourth in a row to El Dorado, have played for three state titles over the past five years.
