No. 7 Mansfield (5-0) at No. 4 CHARLESTON (2-3)

Mansfield rushed for 499 yards and 6 touchdowns in last week's 65-0 conference win over Greenland. The Mansfield defense was led by senior Braden Mays (4 tackles and forced fumble). Mansfield Coach Whit Overton said he was impressed by the play of an offensive line led by senior Turner Wright and sophomores of Zander Walters, Ethan Martin, Logan, and Caiden Ore. Reigning 3A champion Charleston has won 2 in a row after an 0-3 start, its most recent victory 37-16 over Cedarville. Charleston has won 3 in a row against Mansfield by a combined score of 130-14.

 

3A NONCONFERENCE

Manila (2-2) at BARTON (3-3): Manila won 2 in a row before taking last week off. comes off a bye week but rides into this week on a 2-game winning streak. Jacob Baugher (215 yards receiving, 3 TDs, 90-yard KOR for a TD) led Manila's offense. Manila Coach Ben Fisher says he thinks his team needs to limit the big plays from Barton, which breezed to a 57-8 win in its most recent outing against conference opponent Lake Village. Connor Willis (7-7 passing, 198 yards, 5 TDs), Ne’Taveus Johnson (130 all-purpose yards, 5 touches, 96-yard TD) and Qulan Green (2-43 receiving, 2 TDs) led the Bears offense. Green (7 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 sacks) led the defense. Barton Coach Steve Sexton says the offensive line is still figuring things out but the pieces are falling into place for the team.

Horatio (1-4) at Class 2A MURFREESBORO (5-0): Horatio fell 34-7 to Fouke last Friday, its fourth consecutive loss, Riley Williamson (14-23 passing, 119 yards, 1 TD), Daniel Gideon (2-44 receiving) and Trey Smith (4-23 receiving, 1 TD) led the offense.

 

1-3A

Greenland (1-4) at No. 1 BOONEVILLE (3-2): Greenland lost 65-0 to No. 7 Mansfield last week and has lost its past 3 meetings with Booneville, the top-ranked 3A team. Booneville beat West Fork 40-0 last Friday. QB Jace Washburn (13-181 rushing, TD; 7-9 passing, 113 yards, TD) and RB Dax Goff (116 rushing, 1 TD) led the offensive charge as Booneville put up 611 total yards. Rylen Ray (9 unassisted tackles, 1 assist, 1 sack) and Goff (8 tackles, 2 assists, 1 sack) anchored Booneville's defense. The Bearcats totaled 5 sacks against West Fork.

 West Fork (1-4) at LAVACA (4-1): West Fork comes in off a 40-0 loss against No. 1 Booneville last week. The Tigers have lost by a combined 78-8 total the past 2 weeks. Lavaca suffered its first loss last week – 42-35 to Hackett. Jimmy Barron (4-180 receiving, 3 TDs.) led Lavaca. Golden Arrows Coach Mark Headley says he looks for his team to refocus after last Friday’s loss against a West Fork team that has won 2 of the past 3 meetings between the teams. Lavaca won 31-7 last year.

HACKETT (3-2) at Cedarville (0-5): Hackett comes in off a 7-point win over previously undefeated Lavaca. QB Cole Ketchum (178 yards passing, 2 TDs; 114 yards rushing, 2 TDs) and Jeremy Lawyer (266 rushing, 2 TDs) keyed the offense. Eli Slavens (7 tackles, 1 assist) spearheaded the defense. Cedarville fell to 0-5 after last week's 37-16 loss to No. 4 Charleston.

 

2-3A

Melbourne (2-3) at No. 5 SALEM (6-0): Melbourne comes in off 39-6 win over Yellville-Summit. Robert Langston (20-167 rushing, 2 TDs), Carson Davis (10-83 rushing, 2 TDs), and Cole Bookout (11-13 passing, 2 TDs) were key on offense. Langston also contributed 9 tackles. No. 5 Salem beat Newport 52-34, with Lukas Downs (4-8 passing, 104 yards, 1 TD) and Elijah Romine (189 rushing, 2 TDs) leading the Greyhounds.

Atkins (0-6) at NEWPORT (2-4): Atkins fell 22-16 to Perryville last week as it looks for its first win. Jackson Furrh (6-135 receiving, 2 TDs) led the Red Devils offense. Jaden Martin (11 tackles), Landon Seaton (9 tackles), and Furrh (10 tackles and 1 sack) led the defensive effort. Newport, losing to No. 5 Salem, was led by Luke Reynolds (216 yards passing, 3 TDs). Aamoni Wren, Dayrin Braxton and Tonio Phillips each caught a TD pass. Jack Simpson (15 tackles) and Tyler Riddley (10 tackles) led on defense.

Yellville-Summit (3-2) at QUITMAN (2-3):  Yellville-Summit rushed for 300 yards in a 33-point loss to Melbourne, but it was slowed by 4 turnovers and 9 penalties, 2 areas that need to be cleaned up, Coach Justin Crain says. Quitman comes off a 49-36 win over 2A England this past week. Eli Hartman (21-148  rushing, 2 TDs) and Bryson Thacker (2 rushing TDs; blocked punt returned for TD) scored 5 of the TDs. The Bulldogs scored 42 second-half points to pull away.

 

3-3A

Palestine-Wheatley (2-3) at OSCEOLA (1-5): Palestine-Wheatley has lost 2 in a row after a 2-1 start, the latest loss 49-6 to No. 6 Hoxie. Osceola beat Piggott 70-6 for its first win. Osceola beat Palestine-Wheatley 48-0 last season after the Seminoles won by forfeit In 2021. The 2020 game was canceled because of COVID-19.

Piggott (0-6) at No. 9 WALNUT RIDGE (4-2): Piggott's Jesus Garcia had 94 kickoff return yards and a 31-yard punt return for a TD in a 70-6 loss to Osceola. Walnut Ridge lost 39-28 to No. 3 Harmony Grove Ouachita County last Friday. Jersie Cunningham (1 TD pass), Enrique Perez (129 rushing), and Robbie Tate (143 rushing, 3 TDs) led Walnut Ridge.

 

4-3A

No. 10 Bismarck (4-1) at No. 11 GLEN ROSE (3-2): Bismarck enters off a 41-0 win over Paris. Ben Keithley (141 yards passing, 1 TD; 70 yards rushing, 2 TDs), Tony Weeks (43 receiving, 1 TD) and Dalton Daniels (41 receiving; 33 ushing) led the Lions offense. Malachi Stevenson (6 tackles) and Lucas Chapman (4 tackles) led the defense. Glen Rose has won 3 in a row, including last week's 49-0 win over Jessieville. Glen Rose has defeated Bismarck 6 consecutive times overall and looks to be the favorite once again.

Centerpoint (2-3) at No. 8 MAGNET COVE (5-0): Centerpoint beat Danville 42-21 for its second win in a row. Magnet Cove has scored at least 40 points in all 5 games, but Centerpoint has won the past 4 matchups between the teams, a streak Magnet Cove is looking to end.

Paris (2-3) at JESSIEVILLE (2-3): Paris has scored a total of 6 points in back-to-back losses, the most recent defeat coming 41-0 to Bismarck. Jessieville lost 49-0 to Glen Rose and has also been held to a total of 6 points in its past 2 games. Jessieville has won the past 2 matchups with  Paris.

Two Rivers (0-5) at DANVILLE (0-5): Two Rivers lost 47-6 to No. 8 Magnet Cove. Ethan Crites (4-46  rushing, 1 TD) and Evan Crites (7-36 rushing) led the Gators offense. Danville lost its most recent game, 42-21 against Centerpoint.

No. 2 PRESCOTT (5-1) at Fouke (4-2): Prescott won 49-14 at Junction last week. QB Pierce Yates (11-16 passing, 258 yards, 2 TDs), Jah’Noah Harris (10-59 rushing, 2 TDs), DeCari Prater (4- 58 rushing, 1 TD), P.J. Gulley (4-85 receiving, 1 TD) and Jaylen Johnson (2-42 receiving, 1 TD) led the Curley Wolves. Prater ( 1 INT.), Talan Smith ( 1 INT returned for TD), and Wes Rash (1 INT) controlled the game for Prescott. Fouke beat 34-7 Horatio last week. Prescott has won the past 5 matchups with Fouke

JUNCTION CITY (3-3) at Smackover (3-2): Junction City hits the road as it looks to bounce back from last week's 49-14 home loss to Prescott. The Buckaroos, coming off a bye week, beat Bowie, Texas 12-8, in its most recent game. Junction City has won 3 of the past 4 meetings between these teams, but Smackover won last year.

Rison (0-5) at No. 3 HARMONY GROVE OUACHITA COUNTY (4-2) Rison remains winless after a 54-14 loss to 2A Bigelow last week. Harmony Grove Ouachita County continues beat No. 9 Walnut Ridge 39-28 last week. The Hornets have won 2 of the past 3 matchups against the Wildcats, but Rison won 36-15 last season.

DREW CENTRAL (1-5) at Lake Village (1-3): Drew Central lost 47-14 to Fordyce last week. Brent Hornaday caught a touchdown pass and totaled 12 tackles for the Pirates. Lake Village has lost 3 in a row, the latest defeat by a 57-8 score to Barton. The teams have split the past 4 meetings.
