HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 4 Ashdown at No. 17 Pulaski Robinson
This battle of unbeatens could determine playoff seeding. Ashdown ambushed Pulaski Robinson 31-7 a year ago, and Robinson's only other losses were to state finalists Pulaski Academy and Shiloh Christian. Pulaski Robinson started 3-0 for the second consecutive year. Senator senior tailback Ryan Scarborough didn't play last year but paces the running attack with 26 carries for 450 yards (17 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns. Senior Brandon Burks has scored TDs on rushes, receptions and punt returns this year. Senior quarterback Logan Howard has passed for almost 500 yards, while Episcopal Collegiate transfer Jalen Lacey paces Pulaski Robinson with 10 receptions for 180 yards. But the Senators start five sophomore offensive linemen. "Our skill kids are as good as any in the state, and they'll keep us in a lot of games," Coach Todd Eskola says. "Our linemen are good, but are so inexperienced. Last year, our linemen graded out at least 80 percent in every game, and this year they are grading out in the 60's."

Ashdown has outscored Little Rock McClellan, Hope and Marvell by a combined 153-26 this year. Senior end Glenndon Bobo, who set a state record with 25 sacks a year ago, hasn't played this year while nursing a sprained ankle but should return this week. Junior end C.J. Gooden (6-2, 210) harasses offenses with quickness and size. Senior QB Raylon Hubbard threw a TD pass and ran for a score in limited action against Marvell last week. "They've been keeping it simple, winning with defense and special teams," Eskola says.
