Rivercrest junior RB/LB Earl Byrd rushed 10 times for 155 yards and two TDs and added two sacks, two forced fumbles, six tackles and 10 QB hurries in last week's 44-28 win at Harrisburg. Hoxie tries to avenge its 27-26 loss to Rivercrest in 2008, its only loss in league play a year ago.

WEEK 5 PREDICTIONS (favored team in CAPS followed by point spread)
1-3A

LAVACA (12) at Cedarville: Lavaca improves to 2-0 in league play. Cedarville lost to Lavaca twice in 2008: 21-12 on the road and 28-7 at home in the playoff quarterfinals.
Mountainburg at CHARLESTON (28): Charleston junior FB Ryan McDonald rushed 19 times for 155 yards in last week's 41-21 win at Mansfield. Mountainburg averages 14.5 points per game. It won 14-8 last week at Cedarville, but that won't cut it against the defending 3A state champion.
Lincoln at ELKINS (14): Lincoln last beat Elkins (34-15) in 2006. Elkins only won two league games a year ago vs. Lavaca and Lincoln. It lost 35-6 at Lavaca last week.
MANSFIELD (6) at Greenland: Mansfield looks to avoid a repeat of last year's 0-2 league start. Greenland won 34-6 at Mansfield in 2008.

2-3A
BARTON (24) at Episcopal: Barton senior RB Bryan Gause ran for 212 yards in last year's 41-8 win against Episcopal. Episcopal gives up 40 points per game this year; it lost 40-14 last week at Harding Academy.
Brinkley at MAYFLOWER (17): Brinkley lost 54-22 against Mayflower last year. After starting the season 0-3, Mayflower hinted it could still defend its 2-3A title with last week's 37-26 win over Riverview.
HARDING ACADEMY (35) at England: Harding Academy junior QB Seth Keese completed his first 11 passes for 205 yards, all in the first half, in last year's 45-6 win over England. England junior QB Josh Anderson threw two TDs in last week's 45-12 loss at Barton.
Rose Bud at RIVERVIEW (21): Rose Bud lost 32-8 at Brinkley last week and is in the midst of a 13-game losing streak. Riverview rebounds this week after its 37-26 loss at Mayflower. The Raiders have scored 141 points this year, but have allowed 130 points.

3-3A
CAVE CITY (35) at Corning: Cave City lost to Corning 22-21 in 2008. Corning has lost its first four games by an average of 40 points.
Piggott at EARLE (40): Piggott lost 20-0 at Cave City last week. Earle posted a 43-point shutout against Piggott a year ago.
Manila at HARRISBURG (35): Harrisburg looks for its first win in the 3-3A after it lost 44-28 last week to Rivercrest. Manila lost 42-6 against Harrisburg last year.

4-3A
ATKINS (14) at Mountain View: Atkins sophomore RB Trey Bennett rushed for four TDs in last week's 51-26 win against Marshall. Mountain View senior RB Chris Avery ran for two TDs, one for 77 yards, in last week's 42-12 loss at Lamar.
Green Forest at PARIS (3): Green Forest senior RB Abel Reyes ran for two TDs in last week's 40-13 loss against Perryville. Paris lost 30-6 at Green Forest last year.
LAMAR (20) at Yellville-Summit: Lamar senior WR Zach Ward scored three TDs in last week's 42-12 win against Mountain View. Yellville-Summit lost 42-6 at Lamar in 2008.
Marshall at PERRYVILLE (17): Marshall junior RB Mason Milsap rushed for three TDs in last week's 51-26 loss at Atkins. Perryville senior RB Royce McClain ran for three TDs in last week's 40-13 win at Green Forest.

5-3A
Bismarck at ARKANSAS BAPTIST (17): Bismarck gave up 49 points last week to a Jessieville team that had averaged 24 ppg through the first three weeks. Arkansas Baptist junior RB Jon Moon passed for 125 yards and two TDs in last year's 48-8 win at Bismarck.
FOUNTAIN LAKE (11) at Bauxite: Fountain Lake junior RB Mark Makin rushed for 151 yards and four TDs on just 10 carries in last week's 51-6 win at Centerpoint. Bauxite senior QB Blake Childress rushed for 243 yards and three TDs in last week's 34-30 win at Magnet Cove.
MAGNET COVE (21) at Centerpoint: Magnet Cove senior RB Jake Daniell ran for two TDs and averaged 19 yards per carry in last week's 34-30 loss against Bauxite. Centerpoint has lost its last three games, averaging six points per contest.
GLEN ROSE (24) at Jessieville: Glen Rose senior QB Ethan Holicer completed 10 of 19 passes for 289 yards and four TDs, while junior RB Steven Kehner ran for 170 yards and two TDs and caught three passes for 158 yards and a TD in last week's 48-21 win over Arkansas Baptist. Jessieville lost 42-6 last year at Glen Rose.

7-3A
Drew Central at RISON (35): Drew Central has been outscored 114-14 in its past three games. Rison won 58-21 at Drew Central a year ago.  
PRESCOTT (40) at Fouke: Prescott senior RB James Colbert ran 41 and 37 yards for TDs in last year's 60-12 win against Fouke. Fouke is allowing 34.5 points per game this year.
CAMDEN HARMONY GROVE (21) at Gurdon: Harmony Grove looks for its first win in 2009; it won 23-6 against Gurdon a year ago. Winless Gurdon has only scored 25 points this year.
PARKERS CHAPEL (2) at Lafayette County: No. 19 Parkers Chapel positions itself for a playoff berth. Lafayette County junior RB LaDarien Briggs rushed for four TDs and caught an 85-yard TD in last year's 56-19 win at Parkers Chapel.
